When children feel understood and supported, they have the confidence they need to thrive.
Children have different ways of managing their stress. This can look like acting out, withdrawing, engaging in unhealthy social dynamics and/or destructive behaviors, etc. These behaviors are one way children deal with painful and difficult feelings. It can be challenging for parents to make sense out of these behaviors and to understand what is going on with their child enough to help them find better ways of expressing their feelings.
Therapy can help. Using play and talk therapy, I see it as my job to help your child express what it is that is inside them. By sharing these thoughts and feelings in a safe space, children do not need to act out on these feelings.
I will work with you to help you interpret your child's distress and coach you on how best to intervene and support your child.
